The positive side effects of great design are often invisible and inarticulable - It just works, It makes me feel good, I don't have to worry! A great experience delights us. It can make us feel happy, satisfied and safe. When we have a bad experience - It's not working, I don't get this, Why do I have to put up with... - we feel frustrated, angry, helpless or even stupid. Probably because we have lost time, money or dignity in the process.
Too often the design of a 'thing' is undermined by the system that has produced it - the companies that create/market it, the designers/engineers that design it, the mechanisms that manufacture it, the advertisers that promote it and the retailers that merchandise it.
This site is dedicated to creating awareness and advocacy of great design by recognizing product or service design crimes and attempting an explanation and solution. Sometimes it is also just for complaining.
